Navigating Peer Pressure – what should you do?

I understand that navigating peer pressure at school can be tough. It’s easy to feel like you have to go along with what everyone else is doing in order to fit in. But as a Christian, we are called to live differently than the world around us.

In Romans 12:2, we read, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” This verse reminds us that as Christians, we are called to live in a way that is different from the world around us. We are called to follow God’s will, not the will of our peers.

So, how can you handle peer pressure in a way that honors God? First, pray. Ask God for wisdom and guidance in how to handle difficult situations. He will give you the strength and courage you need to stand up for what is right.

Second, surround yourself with other Christians who will support and encourage you in your faith. This could be your youth group, a Christian club at school, or even just a close group of Christian friends. Having a community of believers around you will help you stay strong in your faith and resist peer pressure.

Third, focus on pleasing God, not pleasing others. In Galatians 1:10, Paul wrote, “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” This verse reminds us that our ultimate goal should be to please God, not to please our peers. When we focus on pleasing God, we will find the strength and courage we need to resist peer pressure and live a life that honors Him.

In conclusion, remember that you are not alone in your struggles with peer pressure. God is with you, and He will give you the strength and wisdom you need to navigate difficult situations. Surround yourself with other Christians, focus on pleasing God, and trust in His plan for your life.

May God bless you and guide you as you seek to honor Him in all that you do.
